CNC Machine for Watch Making

In fact, there is currently no CNC machine specially used for watch manufacturing. Although the Swiss CNC machine, which is famous in the world, is not a CNC machine specially used for making watches, Swiss CNC machine are good at manufacturing precision CNC machining parts, and this is exactly It is the most necessary condition to produce a watch.

CNC machine that can be used to manufacture watch components are generally divided into CNC lathes(CNC turning center) and CNC milling machines.

CNC lathe for watchmaking:

Lathe turning is used to process revolving body watch parts. The watch parts are clamped on the main shaft of the machine tool through the three-grip chuck, and rotated at high speed, and then the turning tool is used to cut out the appearance of the watch product according to the busbar of the revolving body. The lathe can also process inner holes, threads, bites, etc., and the latter two are low-speed processing. CNC lathes can process the shape of complex rotary watches.

CNC milling machine for watchmaking:

Milling is to fix the blank of the watch component, and use a high-speed rotating milling cutter to run on the blank to cut out the required shape and features. Traditional milling is mostly used for simple shapes/features such as milling contours and slots. CNC milling machines can also process complex shapes and features.

First of all, understand the difference between a lathe and a milling machine. To put it simply: a lathe is used to process cylindrical or round watch parts, while a milling machine is used to manufacture flat watch parts. Lathe processing is that the workpiece rotates, and the tool does not rotate; milling machine processing is that the tool rotates, and the workpiece does not rotate. A lathe is a machine tool that mainly uses a turning tool to turn a rotating workpiece. Drills, reamers, reamers, taps, dies and knurling tools can also be used for corresponding processing on the lathe. Lathes are mainly used to process shafts, discs, sleeves and other watch parts with rotating surfaces, and are the most widely used machine tools for making watch cases.

When it comes to making watch parts, both CNC lathes and milling machines are expensive. For personal hobbies, spending a lot of money to buy a machine tool requires financial strength. Therefore we do not recommend this practice. Maybe you can find a CNC machining outsourcing company and let them help you complete the mass production of watch parts.
